Growing Up In Dudley - Creative Commissions
Growing up in Dudley launched at the start of 2021 and so far we have been using Facebook and Instagram to gather stories and images from people during lockdown. With restrictions beginning to lift we would now like to plan how we might share some of these stories with the people of Dudley later in the year as part of an exhibition.
We are looking for creative responses to the archive that either take inspiration from the collected images or stories, or that are made up of your own stories or those that you gather. We have several commissions available at £500 each.
We’re open to how these creative responses might look / feel / sound. It could be a sound piece (a small series of podcasts for example), a mini film or a short animation, a series of portraits and poems, illustrations and photography - whatever it is, ideally the pieces need to be able to sit both on a digital platform (shared on social media / uploaded on a website) and also shown in a physical space.
Resources:
Please take a look at the Dudley People’s Archive website homepage and social media pages (links below) to see what we have gathered so far. If you scroll down on the homepage you’ll see some of the stories we have gathered (some are short others more in-depth).
If there is something that sparks your interest or you like some of the images that you see and would like to connect with someone then we can make an introduction.
